"The program's name "Riding On Angels' Wings" comes from the experiences in my sons life and what they have taught me. That is, that every person with a disability endures many obstacles in their lives, yet they face them with the faith, courage and strengh of an angel."

Kevin has been an occupational therapist for the past 19 years, an adjunct assistant professor for the past 10 years, and a public school OT/private OT consultant for the past 15 years. He is currently on leave from the public schools and is teaching in the special education department at Minnesota State University Moorhead. He has a special interest in assistive technology and mobility. He has provided therapeutic horseback riding and adapted aquatics as alternative therapy techniques since he began working with children with disabilities in the early 90's. |

Erika graduated from the University of Missouri with a PhD in Animal Science in 2006 before moving to Fargo with her husband Eric and their daughter Anna in January of 2007. She has been involved in the field of therapeutic riding for 12 years and earned her NARHA instructor certification in 1999. Before moving to ND, she taught therapeutic riding in College Station, Texas and Columbia, Missouri. Erika is also an adjunct assistant professor in the Animal and Range Sciences Department at North Dakota State University where she teaches courses on therapeutic horsemanship. She joined Riding on Angels' Wings in April of 2007.

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants

Vicki graduated from North Dakota State College of Science in 2000 as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. After graduation, she worked for five years in area schools providing Occupational Therapy Services for children ages three to 21. She is currently employed by HCR Manor Care working with all ages in rehabilitation. Vicki lives in Moorhead with her daughter, Shelbi. |

Katie Havelka graduated from the North Dakota State College of Science in 1999 as a Certifiied Occupational Therapy Assistant. After graduation she worked for a Pediatrics private practice in Bismarck, ND for 4 years. While in Bismarck, Katie was instrumental in starting a Hippotherapy program and became a AHA Registered Therapist in 2002. In 2003, Katie accepted a position at Prairie Psychiatric Hospital focusing on pediatrics and adolescents as a COTA. She is currently employed at Lake Agassiz Special Education Coop serving the schools of Hawley, Barnesville, and Ulen as an COTA. Katie lives in Fargo with her husband and son Peter. |

Developmental Adapted Physical Education
|
“Nate” graduated from Minnesota State University-Moorhead with a Bachelor of Science degree in health and physical education along with a licensure in Developmental Adapted Physical Education (D/APE) in 2007. He grew up in Roseau, MN in a family of nine children (six sisters and two brothers.) Because he has a sister with Cerebral Palsy, Nate has a “special place” for children with disabilities. After attending high school, he spent four years in the United States Marine Corp. Nate’s most enjoys working with children. He likes sports and all outdoor activities whether it is working or playing.
